All my desktop transparency disappeared!
I was browsing these very forums when I opened up Firefox's downloads window to check something. I went back to desktop #1, and the next thing I knew, gkrellm and Eterm (which are normally transparent) had grey backgrounds. If I open any more terminals, they're all grey too. Restarting X didn't help, either.
So what's going on? Is there anything I can do to fix it? Thanks for your assistance! (Great site, btw. You might be seeing me here more often :newbie: ) |
No ideas? :(

What window manager do you use?

KDE 3.2.3

Since what you're talking about isn't real transparency, there'a probably an issue with however you set your wallpaper. Do you use something like Esetroot or an in-built KDE method? I haven't used KDE for ages so I'm not really sure how it handles things.

Built-in KDE method. i.e., through the KDE control center.
After reading your post, I played around with my wallpaper. I set it to 'no background,' then I set it back to the one I had before. Afterwards, I switched gkrellm themes and it became transparent again. Finally, I closed Eterm, opened it again, and it was transparent. Everything seems to be OK now. Thanks for the push in the right direction. :) |
