aliasing commands in the console?

I have a program I want to just open up by typing in "furthur" at the console instead of sifting through everything.

furthur is in /home/name/furthur/tar

this is what I am typing in:

alias furthur java -jar Furthur.jar

Im getting the error

"furthur not found"

"java not found"

"-jar" not found

"Furthur.jar not found"

I already tried updatedb

I believe it will work if you use:

alias furthur='java -jar Furthur.jar'

in your .bashrc. I'm not certain about it, but that's the way all of my aliases are defined.
