add/remove programs in text mode

i'm using redhat linux 9.

in x-windows, there's an option of add/remove programs, which allows me to install/remove packages and prompt for me to insert installation discs.

in there such a utility like this in the text mode?

rpm

man rpm

To add a program:
rpm -i

To remove
rpm -e programname

To view what's installed:
rpm -qa

Also, there are PLENTY of other options, such as Synaptic at www.freshmeat.net I do believe that is an apt-get (see the synaptic project) that will work on the command line.

I meant if there is an utility which will display a menu options allowing me to choose from what software package to installed (which I didn't install during the first installation process)?

rpm seem only allows me to install the .rpm package which I downloaded from internet.

Or from having your CD mounted and selecting RPM's from it. However, the Synaptic I've mentioned above combined with apt-get provides more of what you are looking for. Also, while at www.freshmeat.net you can find literally hundreds of RPM utilities, probably one that will meet your needs.
