The uploading / deleting of the photos is done through an admin module prepared for the users. Tried to upload new photos but of no use.
We have only two users on the Server - root and another application user. Can somebody please suggest some remedial measures/ areas that need to be looked into to remove this anomaly. This application was originally on Windows and was recently migrated to Linux environment for operational convenience. Since then encountering this problem.

You aren't providing anything, really, as far as details go; telling us "website application" is meaningless...who wrote it? What language? Troubleshooting something on a Tomcat .war application is far different than a PHP, and still different from HTML5. I would look at the code/programs FIRST, because it could very well be (since it came from Windows), that there is something 'windows specific' it's trying to do.
And as others have said about Red Hat, if you're REALLY using RH6 it's
ANCIENT, but chances are you mean Red Hat ENTERPRISE 6...which is *STILL* old. Since this is a new machine, you would really be better served by loading the latest versions of things at the start, which would ALSO get you the updated apache web server, etc. And if you don't plan on paying for RHEL, then
DO NOT USE IT. You pay for support, patches, bugfixes, and security fixes. Unless you pay, you get NONE OF THOSE. CentOS is 99.x% identical, but totally free. Far better to use it.
