A tip regarding Exiv2 on the command line
 
To preserve the original file modified date and time and execute an EXIV2 command on the file, use the -k (keep modified date) option.

An example:

exiv2 -kM"set Iptc.Application2.ObjectName Dribble Glasses" 16oz_green.jpg
I was inspired to start this thread by reading this thread, where neither the OP nor the only person replying seemed to know there was a way to do this.

This probably would have made a better entry in my blog on LQ. Maybe at some point I'll "clone" it to that blog.
