A little help please
Hi
I have been an avid windows user for the past 6+ years and have become more and more interested in Linux. To start out, I have an old NEC versa laptop, running at 75 mhz, 24 Mb ram, 1Mb video ram, a 56k modem, network, 340Mb HD, and floppy. Furthermore, I have a CD-Rom that connects via parallel port, but can only use it once a DOS session has started. My question is, what release of linux would be best suited for my circumstances. I know this system is slow, but I believe it would be a good start. Thanks Mike Swanson |
www.linux.org , go there and let'em suggest you some nice flavour of linux. I'd use slackware, but I'm afraid it's really too difficult to begin with

My first suggestion would be not to start on a labtop but on any i586 tabletop. Drivers on labtop tend to be problematic in most cases.

they might be a little harder to get working than a regular mainstream distro, but you would learn alot during the process. |
