does linux support direct cable connections?
i want to connect a 386(as host) with my main system.

does linux support dvd roms?

can linux view mac files?

does anyone know if anyone manufactures zip drives for linux?

does anyone no of a good media device that can work on linux besides zip drives?(something that can hold more than a hundred m of data)

What kind of cable connections, like a direct connection from pc to pc? If so then yes.
Yes, Linux does support DVD roms. SuSE comes with a DVD install disk, unless you want the 5 or so separate install disks.
Yes, I have never setup to view Mac files but it can be done, or at least I know you can network together to view or access the files.
Iomega Zip works, the original manufacturer.
Yes, I have a LS-120 Superdisk Internal as my floppy drive and it works great holding up to 120mb of disk space. The Jaz drive works, tape drives....and so on.

you say you have a ls-20 as your floppy... is it actually controlled as a floppy disk(hooks up to the same cable and everything)?

SLIP or a point-to-point ethernet x-over connection will be like a direct connection.

Zip drives work in Linux. (Even parallel port ones)
