3 Quick questions about libraries

I tried to isntall some apps off of my MDK 8.1 disk, but every app says I lack libriaries required.

First, is it saying this becaase it is an RPM and being overprotective?

Second, where can I get these libraries.

Third, can I put these libraries in my current distro without causing problems?

1) erm.. well you'll need most of the libraries installed, and if you've installed some from source then rpm won't be able to find it, so it'll moan.

2) rpmfind.net

3) forgot what you said.... oh yeah... well you should have the libraries on teh cd already, if not there are MDK versions of vitrually every rpm around.

If you've installed much from source, then it might be a case of the RPM database being confused as to what is actually on your system.

Which ones are they? They're probably on the mandy CD somewhere... in RPM form... icky poo.

Almost always. The RPM db headache might get worse, but the worst that can happen is some extra kludge.
