Can't help but notice that he's got about 800 comments in his "Sucks" section where most of the other sections have none. OK, 12 in the "Install it" one. Shame on you Linux people!
If it "sucks" so bad, I guess the millions of computers that run it today must be owned by idiots.
You have choices about what hardware and software platform is right for the workloads you want to run. (Don't overlook the fact that IBM still sells lots of mainframe and AS/400 equipment to this day. Industrial automation and real-time operations are yet another enormous market served by specialized hardware and software all its own.) Although "shiny things are fun" around here, it's always been tongue-in-cheek ... never technically accurate, and never seriously thought to be.

It did suck ME in, and my company, and NASA, and the U.S. Navy, and most of Europe...
It is running on this old laptop just fine, and no currently supported Microsoft operating system will!
Linux sucks all right! It sucks you in and then you get completely addicted to it. Windows doesn't do that to anyone. People use Windows because their machine comes with Windows on it, because they learned to use Windows at school, because they don't know that there is any alternative, because they think that Linux would be too difficult for them, or because they need to use hardware or software that only works in Windows. In other words, you need to have a practical reason for using Windows. Nobody uses Windows because they love it. It exercises no suction.
Distribution: Currently: OpenMandriva. Previously: openSUSE, PCLinuxOS, CentOS, among others over the years.

If Linux sucks, I'll guarantee ya's now, Window$ sucks more! (a lot more!) And it crashes more too!! They can keep their bloatware for all I care!! They can't even write a stable web browser, think IE! Screw M$!!!!!!!!
agree with the reasons #1,#5,#7 and #8
However linux has one huge advantage - it's virus free.
This outweighs all other inconveniences (at least for me)
Distribution: Mainly Devuan, antiX, & Void, with Tiny Core, Fatdog, & BSD thrown in.

Gave up on Microsoft Windows full time in 1999, hardly had a problem since, & of the ones I have, they have been through my own making as I experimented with the system - MS doesn't let you do anything to it without causing problems.

hazel,
Well said!
In Windows 10 there are no less than 16 different categories under Privacy (Win + I > Settings > Privacy). Many W10 users will not bother to change some of these default settings.
Under the General tab, the third one down states:
“ Send Microsoft information about how I write to help us improve typing and writing in the future.”
This apparently innocuous statement hides a keylogger.
I am amazed that Microsoft has not faced action over this.
The other point to bear in mind is that most W10 updates are now done automatically, so how does the user know if keyloggers or similar are being activated/reactivated surreptitiously by Microsoft?
In order to buy Office 365 or access OneDrive you must open a Microsoft Account (MSA). A Local Account is not sufficient. Unsurprisingly, the MSA allows Microsoft to monitor your logins etc.
I really do not know what I would do computing-wise if Linux did not exist, because Apple, in my opinion, is just as bad as MS. They both treat their customers with disdain, whilst simultaneously hoovering up their cash.
Just think, one day all Windows users will probably be obliged to use W10 (or a variant) as their old software and machines become obsolete or not recognised by MS. What a happy thought!
