Hello all

I have seen on our Linux production servers the memory consumption at 90% and above which is very rare on our Solaris servers. I heard that in Linux the memory consumption could be at 100% (some times) and the memory is completely managed in a different way when compared to other *nix platforms. Also I heard that the Kernel manages page in/out's as desired and the only concern should be the swap space it seems. If the swap space consumption is also high ( I am not sure about the range of consumption in terms of %) on top of the RAM's consumption then only one has to worry it seems.

In this regard I am searching for some good documents and links on the net to know more about the "Memory management in Linux" and I appreciate your help.

Thanks

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
