XServer Problem when trying to play games

I can't exactly be very distinct with what my problem is, but bear with me please. I've installed both netpanzer and Postal for linux onto my Ubuntu (Warty) desktop. I have successfully installed the drivers for my Radeon 9200SE and have played them on Enemy Territory and BZFlag. My problem comes when I attempt to play Postal or Netpanzer, in that when I start the games, the games load but they completely mess up the XServer. Warty uses XFree86 btw if that is of any significance. I have found no errors returned, but even when I kill the game from a terminal, it leaves the XServer completly messed up, forcing me to restart it. It seems as if they games are magnifying the XServer then just completely jumbling up the images so that nothing is coherent. If anyone else has this problem and knows a fix, it'd be greatly appreciated to hear it.

It is probably a resolution problem, try messing with the games configs to give one of the resolutions declared in you /etc/X11/xorg.conf, eg. 1024x768; or add the required resolution(s) to you xorg.conf file. The bpp is also imprtant (16, 24 or 32, although 32 doesn't really exist!!).
