World of Warcraft (WoW) and TwinView

Hi all,

I've had WoW running great, and I finally got my dual head setup working, with beryl and lots of bells and whistles. It all runs like a charm :).... all except for WoW.

I'm using the 1280x1024, NULL options in metamodes in my xorg.conf file, and when I load WoW it is in a resolution of 2560x1024, all on one screen. If I change the resolution in game to 1280x1024, both screens go white and I have to restart X server. If I try running in windowed mode, sometime similar happens.

Hi,

I just installed FC6T3 yesterday to see how my x86_64, wine and the new fedora are getting along (and if needed fix bugs in the package ;) ). So everything ran fine including wow with and without opengl but I have one problem: I use a TwinView setup here with two monitors using the nvidia graphics driver with the following MetaModes
Option "MetaModes" "1280x1024,1280x1024; 1024x768,1024x768; 800x600,800x600; 640x480,640x480;"

This brings WoW up on both screens and I can only select wide(screen) options from the WoW video options menu (like 2560x2048) which is nice but not really what I intended to use. If I change the Config.wtf to SET gxResolution "1280x1024" it does not leave it at that. What works is to change the MetaMode line to this:
Option "MetaModes" "1280x1024,1280x1024; 1024x768,1024x768; 800x600 ,800x600; 640x480,640x480; 1280x1024" which then if I choose 1280x1024 inside WoW _disables_ my second screen. This indeed is not what it should be like... other games like e.g. doom3 (linux native) get along with just utilizing one screen on a 1280x1024 resolution without any problems (and leaving the second screen usable to other programs). I wonder if somebody could point me to a mistake I made or if this should be filled as a wine bug.

Thanks :)
Where it works for him, however, it doesn't even work for me. Is there a fix at all?

Thanks!

EDIT: Most games have issues with my 2-desktop display... even some 2d ones. I think it's worse with opengl

I had exactly the same problem and setting a metamode with NULL for the second monitor worked but I would rather have both monitors active. So I did the following:

1. selected the wine applet from the system menu and clicked on configure wine
2. checked "Emulate a virtual desktop"
3. set the Desktop size to 1280x1024
4. unchecked "Allow the windows manager to decorate the windows"

works just fine now, I run Wow at 1280x1024 on my main screen and still use skype etc. on my second screen while running the game
