World of Warcraft, ATI Catalyst, OpenGL issues

I've successfully installed and patched World of Warcraft by following the Arch wiki, and got the game to run.
However, if I run it under Direct3D mode, I get around 25 FPS indoors, and about 15 outdoors. OTOH, the OpenGL mode is even slower - way below 10 FPS outdoors. Is this normal, considering that I have ATI (mobility) Radeon 9700 GPU and running the Catalyst 9.2?

I remember WoW running much faster some time ago.

Any help or ideas considering this would be much appreciated.

Hi Wintershade,

When you say that WoW was running much faster some time ago, do you mean on the same machine in Linux or?

Anyway, did you try to tweak a bit Wow in game configurations? Disabling a few things, such as vertical sync really speed up things a bit. Another thing I usually disable is Fullscreen glow effects (or whatever it is called). Well, try those first

Regards!

Yes, I mean the same machine (I have only one which is WoW-capable).
By "some time ago" I meant earlier versions of Catalyst (I believe the last I've been using before 9.2 was 8.9; those between brought me nothing but trouble - again), and perhaps an earlier version of WINE (but it was 1.1.0 or above IIRC). I'm using WINE 1.1.6 ATM, but the one from the wine-hacks GIT repository, since it includes patches which made my life a bit easier with some other games (notably the non-3D games such as Fallout 2 and Arcanum). This is not due to the WINE version, I believe, because I've tried every single version from 1.1.0 up to the latest vanilla WINE, and the patched GIT wine, but to no avail.

Has the OpenGL gotten somewhat broken again in the new Catalyst drivers? Is there a way around it?

Thanks!

edit: forgot - yes, I've disabled everything there was to be disabled; all the shadows, glow, specular lightning, vsync, M2UseShaders, pixel shaders and so on. Still to no avail, the game is not running at playable speed.
