There are sites that provide it, Transgaming is one of them (if you don't mind getting the cvs/beta/untested/possibly not working versions) - but it costs something like $5 which is incredibly cheap. And by paying you get to help them out.

But I just think I saw something about 2 wine x versions. The pay one and the free one. I remember I read something about that the pay one should work bether together with normal wine.

AFAIK, wine and winex shouldn't be installed together - don't know how accurate that is, since I've never needed to try it.

There are free versions of winex, but the pay version is easy to install, has support and comes with Point2Play which makes it easy to install games. The free version is not supported, has spotty success and is awkward to install. It's a real install-at-own-risk/your-mileage-may-vary type of thing.

Hm, then i thing I'll stay with the old edition of wine ;)
The problem is just that i Ctrl+c'ed it at the time I was uninstaling it, so now I cant either install or uninstall it.

Transgaming's WineX is kindof a kickin the pants to linux users. I dont know whether or not to support them, YET if the game you want to run does not run/need direct 3d, your BEST bet is to get the wine source code, unpack it and run ./tools/wineinstall.
It will result in faster wine binaries, and the winex that transgaming provides are all precompiled (The ones you pay for)

The main thing with winex is that fact that it 'support's direct3d/directx' so most of their work is on that front, so if they game uses opengl (God knows its better than microsofts api. good ol doom3 uses opengl - and will have linux binaries) You could probably get it to run under wine.

As far as Counter Strike is concrened (God I hate valve software) it runs on opengl, and was running great under wine up unitl steam. Steam fucking sucks. Valve sucks. Counterstrike sucks, (its just a bunch of kids whining about cheating, a crappy engine, and sucky textures anyways)
Of course valve had to pile more crap onto an engine so far outdated that wine is having trouble working with it. Naturally Transgaming (and all there Mac porting, linux emulating, glory) worked their assses off getting steam to work, hopefully (considering its still an opengl game) they will let the stock wine crew in on the secrets of valves latest mess.

Besdies Unreal is better.

I also downloaded the linux unrealturnement demo, but I cant get it work. When I try running it, it just says

may be a stupid question, but you do have an AMD 64-bit processor don't you?
