I installed F.E.A.R. on Fedora 14 with wine 1.3.7 and i need to apply a patch to it and when i try to apply it it says that F.E.A.R. is not currently installed and i need to install it before i apply the patch. Thing is i had the same problem with Sacred on the same system.
I believe there is a problem with wine registries, the games don't get added to the registry or something like that. Anyways, the problem is wine's. Ask for what extra information you need but please help.

the only suggestion i have for you is that maybe you dont have gecko installed? You can install it easily by getting a program called playonlinux. If you already have it, it could simply be a configuration issue. Wine has a lot of problems with configuration issues. Add fear to you program list (can be accessed by going to apps, wine, configure wine) and set its compatibility to win 2k. also, set your association for .exe's to wine (properties>open with>wine), and i believe that is all there is to it. If it doesnt work after that, let me know.
How do i install playonlinux? yum, search for the source code? save me a google search please. I will try it this way even though the gecko installer already installed itself the first time i tried to install FEAR. I have to see what this playonlinux is so that i may tell you if that's the problem or not.
