One of the reasons I am stuck with Windows... I treated my PC more like a console. >_<
All the Blizzard games work perfectly with Wine. Except for the DOS ones, which run perfectly in DosBox.
I've personally completed both Warcraft III and Diablo 3 using Wine. Warcraft III worked perfectly except for the movies; Diablo 3 had some frame rate issues in Act 3 (yes, just Act 3), but was perfect otherwise.

Hi Guys, I'd really like to be able to play SCRABBLE and also be able to solve CROSSWORD PUZZLES. I've missed these since switching from Windows 7, and at my age, they are good brain therapy. I have a Windows version of Scrabble but it doesn't work on Linux. I've also been an avid Crossword fan for many years. I love Mint 17.1 Cinnamon, and it is on my main working computer to stay. Keep up the great work. Regards, John.

Filled Windows games on Linux distro with gamedrift
Many may complain about the lack of Linux's ability to run several games running on Windows, but the distribution (gamedrift) broke this barrier where you can run several electronic games on Linux without problems, but there are games known strongly Aldzafik where such game (Call of duty modern of warfare ) which can be for distribution (gamedrift) running! Yes, hard to believe, but this fact

I'm sure that a porting of Gran Theft Auto series will be greatly appreciated by many ;-)
A soccer game like Pro Evolution Soccer.
Others: Assassin's Creed, Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia...
I found a scrabble game in the Ubuntu softare repository: pyscrabble
there is also a server with it to join an opponent on a public server.
I don't play on line so I can't check it out myself.
The world of computer games is foreign to me. I know next to nothing. What games would a Windows user sacrifice by migrating from Windows to Linux?
I browsed the recent pages of this thread. I remain clueless because my unfamiliarity precludes me from knowing which games are massively popular and which games are wish lists from individual users.
I am not seeking lists of what does run on Linux. I am not researching Steam, substitute or equivalent games, or what plays on WINE, CrossOver, or PlayOnLinux. I am not looking at work-arounds such as dual booting or VMs. I am not looking for C-64 or Atari emulators.
I am looking for blunt data about popular games a Windows user would sacrifice by migrating.
I am not seeking for a comprehensive list. Just obvious titles that would raise a red flag for me when "mom and dad" ask me to migrate them to Linux, but results in weeping and gnashing of teeth from Junior and Missy.

Thanks much.
This is probably better asked in a separate thread and then linking to it from this thread. Forget statistics, it's better to ask junior and missy their favorite games to play. Then it would come down to researching their availability on Linux.

You want us to build a list of games those two kids in particular would like, and then tell you which of those are not available on Linux?
It doesn't work like that. Get the list from them or from the parents. Then you can filter it yourself.
I do think it's worth noting, though, that most of the recent triple A games may not be available for Linux, but they aren't Windows-exclusives either. Most are available on their native platforms: game consoles.
