Weird, inconsistent Counter-strike problem

I'm currently using Cedega with Steam. The first time I installed it, Counter-Strike didn't work. It would load, show the opening screen, then just kick me out to the desktop. A day later, I decide to try again just for the heck of it. Next thing you know, it works! Then the next day, I decide to try again, and then it doesn't work. It just kicks me out to the desktop again. What's going on? why is it being inconsistent?

the last steam update b0rked counterstrike. everyone i know that runs steam under linux is having the same problem, plus some more forum complaints:

Doh! Looks like I'm not the only one. Thanks for sharing the info for me. I appreciate it very much! I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Same problem here. Half Life (steam) works fine though.
