UT2004 GL error on Mandrake 10 with ATI Radeon 9200 SE
Good Day Guys,
I'm running Mandrake 10 on a AMD Athlon XP2000+, 256mb DDR, ATI Radeon 9200 SE 128mb screen card. I have the fglrx drivers installed and everything, but everytime I want to run UT2K4, it says that there are 2 gl files missing, can't remember the names though.
Do you know if it may be that it does not support my card or that my card does not support the gl functions it wants to apply? I got it running in software mode, but it was VERY slow.
I have an ATI 9200 and UT2K4 runs ok on it with modest settings, the SE is a slower card but it should still work. Run glxinfo and make sure it says "direct rendering: Yes"
It should look something like this ...

Also, posting the names of the files UT complains about would help.

Hello Again
Thanks, I checked and my Direct Rendering is set to no, how do I change that? I saw in a thread about a Quake 3 statrup error that there should be something like this in the X config file:
Section "DRI"
0666
EndSection
I know it's not the perfect code, but it is more or less what it boils down to. I checked my config file and that section is there in the exact same way.
See, I recently Formatted my system again and reloaded Mandrake, after doing that, I basicaly reinstalled UT2K4 and then I tried to run it with opengl again. Now it just says, Exiting due to error. no other messages what so ever. I also tried running it through software, but then it is VERY slow and lags a lot.
Thanks for your assistance and any other help will definitely be appreciated quite a lot.
1, Thats a fairly old ut2004 binary (3186), I'd recommend upgrading to the latest version.
2, Deleteing the ut2004.ini file from your .ut2004/System directory can resolve some errors. Make a backup first, the game will recreate it when next run.

Thanks, got it working. I tried something I saw from another post and at first it didn't work. That was to move all other libGL.so.x files out of the /usr/bin folder.
What I did to get mine working is, I renamed libGL.so.1 to libGL.so.1.old and made a copy of libGL.so.1.2 then renamed the origonal file in /usr/X11R6/ to libGL.so.1 and then I just rebooted my system.
When I got into X again, I started the game and it ran SUPER!!!
But now I've got only one problem :[ I cant load any music into the playlists. Any suggestions or do you think the binary update will fix this? BTW, where can I get the binary update? I got this one with the game cd's.
