Take out the -v... I do not rembember what does it do (verbose?), but certainly a warning (at least) should appera in the console! If nothing shows up, you should end with two files (the .bz2 one and the uncompressed .run one) if that's not the case, you may have a corruped file in your hands, in which case... there nothing else to do than re-download the file (I know, it's painful to re-download a 200+ Mb file...

bzip2 -d ut2004.blah.blah.bz2


then


ls *.run

sh ut2004.blah.blah.run

do this in console.

that worked..! finally I could play it, sound can be a little patchy when gameplay is fast tho..

Excellent! Too bad TeamSpeak does not work well with ALSA, else you could use an external VoIP app. Anyway i know how you feel.. glad I can help!
