ut2003 v2225 patch and sound issues

I've parused the different threads regarding the issue with ut2003 and the version 2225 patch making the sound quit working, but i haven't come accross a clear answer. I would really like to know if anyone has found a solution to this problem. What i have discovered is that it is most likely the file openal.so (in the /System directory) that is causing the problem. So any input would be greatly appreciated (i desparately want this to work, as i really want to play this mod www.redorchestramod.com).
