Download the installer from here. Make sure you've got the UT CD in the drive and type 'sh unreal.tournament*.run' in a command prompt in whatever directory you put the installer.
are you talking about UT2004? in that case, the installer is on the DVD itself. it was a .run file i remember and i just ran it in the console and it installed.
I was recently having a heck of a time trying to install UT on my Ubuntu Breezy notebook. However, now I have it running.
My problem was that the .run script (ut-install-436-GOTY.run) did not ask me for the CD, and just hung there. After fighting for the better part of the day, I found that when I put the CD in the drive, the CDROM mounted as /media/cdrom0. The install script does recognize some environment variables set ahead of time.
well, i followed all the info here and i go through the GOTY blue screen commands. when i get to the do you want to mount the cd? i say yes but it won't go forward. it keeps flipping back to no. EVEN though the cd is actually mounted. i'm almost there---what do i need to change---? thanks
well, it showed mounted when i put the cd in.....can't say i put it in root at that point. bear with me, i'm trying to load both 2004 and 99 similtaneously. i'm having UT withdrawals in linux.....

Rep:
1) copy linux-installer.sh from CD#1 to your home/user/ directory
2) as root, unmount your CD-ROM or DVD drive. (umount /mnt/cdrom)
3) as root, type: export SETUP_CDROM=/mnt/cdrom (or wherever your CDROM/DVD is)
4) run the linux-installer.sh from your /home/user directory
5) when it asks for CD#2, insert CD2 and click OK. If it doesn't work, then mount /mnt/cdrom and click ok
NOTE: I use SuSE 10 and my DVD drive is actually mounted in /media/dvdrecorder

thanks Micro, that appears a good method. i eventually got UT2004 installed. problem is the video drivers. i still haven't figured that part out. although UT comes up it's like in very slow motion and totally unplayable. i need to figure out how to load the latest drivers. i've been told they work with my card......! i am also looking at getting a newer vid card when i get a coupla bucks....
ok---i finally got UT2004 playable in Linux. i went in the OS Config in Mepis and THIS TIME it loaded the 1.7.4 Nvidia drivers. after checking they were in the control panel i played UT for the first time in 2 months......geeeez, what a long strange trip it's been.
Ok, what update do i need from there that will work in Linux? it keeps telling me "update available".
