Unreal Tournament 2004 GLX error

I got it for xmas since it runs on linux. This will be the first game I play on it. The installation was a snap. However I dont get past the splash screen. I checked the xorg.conf file according to what I found on google and the conf was fine it has 24 bit and loads glx and not DRI. Also permissions are fine for /dev/nvidia0 and /dev/nvidiactl at 666.

Here's the rundown of what happens:

Code:
root@Host:~# ut2004
WARNING: ALC_EXT_capture is subject to change!
Couldn't set video mode: Couldn't find matching GLX visual

History:

Exiting due to error
I am considering getting new drivers for my nvidia geforce2 mmx as a secondary option because I'm not sure how to safely change drivers.

Using Slack 10.0 and UT2004 dvd edition btw

simple case of you need to install the official NVIDIA drivers for linux X86
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

looks along the lines you havent got open GL support
http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/L...-6629-pkg1.run

installation

as root in konsole change to runlevel 3
root@Host:~# init 3
root@Host:~# cd /whereyoudownloaded the file
root@Host:~# sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6629-pkg1.run
root@Host:~# vi /etc/XF86config-4
(change driver = nv to driver = nvidia)
(press ESC and ZZ to save the file)
root@Host:~# init 5
(to return here to KDE/gnome and the game should work)
