Tribes 2 is back online
 

For ages I wanted this game.
For ages I just couldn't see why they stop releasing the binaries, when Windows users were enjoying even free copies.

For ages I begged ....
and today I see it's being sold once again by Tuxgames.

Amazing .. been wanting this game for almost 2 years now.

it sold out (again)

game works great (in practice mode) but can't find a server with anyone to play with.
it pings lots and returns 0 servers found

that sucks. Being sold out is a good thing for future games though, they'll make more for linux!

i think its more of a bureacracy/legal problem:
not enough Tribes2 Keys for Linux has been created
then it being sold out - because there are no more cases.

it took some 18 months to get a new batch of Linux Tribes 2 Keys
(I do not know the procedures involved)

The game is good, but it needs updating (it doesn't pick servers)
There are Tribes2 server around but my unpatched version can't pick any
The patches I've downloaded so far didn't work

Like most gaming experiences in Linux - this is not going to be an easy one.

Meanwhile download and play Legends
It is based on Tribes
and many bugs has been fixed - it is very fast and stable now.
It hasn't crashed once, where as it would be the norm a while back.
