Stuntrally with SDL 1.2 on DEBIAN ?

I would like to know if it would be possible to run Stuntrally (SR) with SDL 1.2 on DEBIAN ?

It is for 2.0-SDL with 2.6-SR version

Why?

2.x is available in both stable and old-stable ...
If you're still using old-stable (Wheezy) and wish to compile it yourself, (apt-)get the -dev package from "wheezy-backports":
