Steam icons & shortcuts won't appear, peppermint 8

After installing a game through steam the desktop shortcut nor the icon in the whisker menu appear.
Games will launch through the steam client and run as usual though.

Try looking in panel preferences or right click on the Menu to add the icon to your whisker menu.

What desktop environment are you running?

Using lxde but with Whisker menu, standard peppermint 8. It is not just the Whisker menu, no shortcuts at all.

Does right clicking on the Menu allow you to add a icon or widget?

Did the link help?

Sorry it hasn't worked for you.

It might be possible to run games w/o steam but it doesn't sound like it works for long.

This doesn't work "forever". Eventually, maybe after a month but usually 3-6 months (possibly longer) of being offline without any kind of internet connection,

How to play steam games without steam (I think this is Windows but it could give you ideas how to get around playing w/o steam)

don't use the desktop icon, run the .exe from the installed folder. if it starts steam, you're out of luck, but with some games it will work

If those links don't help I'm afraid I'm out of ideas because even if you start the game from the folder it's in it will still start the steam client if it needs it. Sorry:-

Last idea would be to install Wine so you can play Windows games on Linux.
OR try PlayOnLinux:-

Happy 4th-
