Start up Script for Enemy Territory help

Maybe someone can help here... Our clan is moving our server to a dedicated Linux server.. I have it running ok, but here is the problem... to start it I am using Putty and SSH and I run ./etded +server.cfg which get's it up and running nicely....the only problem is i I exit out of Putty the server shuts down.. I know there is a way to do a start up script that keeps it going regardless of whether I use putty or not... the question is how??? I'm not a big Linux person and am just damn happy I got the server functional

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

After you ssh into your server, start a screen session (see 'man screen' for details).

screen is a great tool. When you enter a screen session, you can start a program running. When you escape from a screen session, the program stays running. You can resume and escape screen sessions at will.

To start screen at the console prompt, type screen

To escape a screen session, type Ctrl-a-d (first ctrl key and hold while pressing a then d). You can now exit PuTTY.

To resume a screen session, ssh into the server again, then type screen -r.

When you are finished with your screen session, type exit.

not sure if this is what you mean but if you add a & after the command it puts it as a background process so its running 24/7 no matter what ssh client you use or if you disconnect/logout .

./etded +server.cfg &

hope this helps
