I have installed sauerbraten on my desktop running Ubuntu Gutsy(7.10) using apt-get.
When I try to start it, the screen goes blank for some seconds like it will start but after few seconds I get my desktop back and the game does not start.
What might be the error?
Does it mean that package is broken or dependencies are not met?
Though this should not be the issue as I used apt-get to install rather than compiling it from the source.
I tried reinstalling it using synaptic but this does not solve the problem.
It's looks like DirectFB can't find your framebuffer device. I don't know why, but when I used to play Sauerbraten myself, I didn't get any problem at all. I'm using Slackware 12 with GeForce
6200. I wish I could help you more, but I'm a Linux newbie myself though. (^_^")
It is weird though as I played the game on the same version of ubuntu installed on another box with same software configurations yet with quite a low hardware.
And it worked fine with no hassles. What more should I try to get it run?
That has already been done.
I tried removing the game and downloading it again.
But the same error persists. I see no reason why it should not work.
Also dependency issues seem to be irrelevant as I installed it with apt.
But if you want me to try it again, I can surely do it.
