RTCW sound problems

Hey, i recently installed the native linux port of return to castle wolfenstein, but for some reason sound isn't working.....

In the console I get :

------- sound initialization -------
/dev/dsp: Device or resource busy
Could not open /dev/dsp

So I started googling, and found that killing artsd worked for some people, I tried it but nothing happened.....

If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it.

I guess I should also mention I'm using KDE.

What distribution do you run and what audio hardware do you hve?

Maybe you should see what does
Code:
$ ls -l /dev/dsp
or
$ ls -l /dev/sound/dsp
yield.

Ok, just do this as root, and try running RTCW again:
Code:
# cd /dev/
# chmod +w dsp
# ls -l dsp
That should change the read only state on the symlink to /dev/sound/dsp to writeable, since the device is being writable by your user in the audio group (viper168), only the symlink needs change.
