basically the game runs sweet and mellow at 1024x768 with everything maxed out at solid 90fps... really no perfomance issues. sound works well through oss, i had to echo it like such:
echo "quake3.x86 0 0 direct" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss
it works well.
now here is the problem, it locks up every time at the end of match, the game freezes at the winner screen (the 3 first placing players) and the sound is repeating. the lockup is so solid that i cant even quit x11. same problem in quake 3 demo as well. there is no such problem if the sound is disabled.
no such issues in doom 3 or quake 4.
any ideas?

also another irrelevant little problem:
while using gnome, and gnome only, in the games above i have control issues. basically i cant change camera direction or shoot while im moving using the keyboard. i regain mouse control when i let go the keyboard. i dont have such issue in kde or xfce... but i just like gnome better so it would be nice if it all worked there.

Which version of quake 3 are you running? The 1.32 pointe release has several problems, but the 1.32b has fixed most of them, for me at least. NOTE: It is something along the lines of 1.32 something something, just remember the b and your good to go.

i suppose nobody knows what the problem is... its a rather general problem though.
