q2 3dfx slack9.1 gl libraries
 

ok. i've given up my geforce2 to my brother so i could get my voodoo2s back into my machine, seeing as my agp port is totally unstable. but the nvidia drivers were so easy to install. these voodoos are a nightmare. ive installed glide & mesa .tgz slack packages. i'm trying to get quake2 to run (as always ;OD ), but no joy yet. i've followed, or tried to follow the tldp how-to and numerous others, but i think im just stumbling at getting the correct " .so " library files etc all sorted out. i found various files; libglide.so / *.so.1 / *2.so / 2*.so.2.56 (or something), and stuck them in the /usr/local/games/quake2 folder, but no 3dfx-joy yet. sigh.

i'm a bit confused as to what & where my two .tgz slack packs went to, and how to sort out the lib* stuff. oh, i can get software mode to run, but as we all know, thats not enough.

if anyone can help please do, i'll provide a note of what the screen is saying if someone needs that info.

heh, i'm only using TWM in slack 9.1. hehehehhehehe. paaaaaaaain! (i intend to get xfce405 in if i get q2 going though).
