Question Problems with Quake 3 Server

I have setup a server for Quake 3 Arena and I've got some problems. Mainly the problem is that I can't connect to the server and I can't browse the server from within the game. I've made sure I have the required ports opened (I've got ranges 27960-27969 and 27950-27959). I pretty much did as I have done with other services to open these ports, however I don't see any references to them in the logs. This is how I start the server:

Code:
q3ded +exec ffa.cfg

I'm having complete problems seeing any of id's master servers right now for quake3/doom3 but I believe that is just a problem with my router. Anyways, I think I heard after you set up a server, you need to do:

heartbeat

in the quake3 console to tell it to be added to the master server list. I'm not really sure but maybe it's worth a shot.

Thank you... I'm still puzzled as why I can't see my LAN server in the local servers list, though.

I've seen what you mean about the master servers... Will try in a bit more. Thanks for the info.
