Parts of sounds not playing on enemy territory

Hi,
I'm having some sound problems with enemy-territory.
I'm using Fedora Core #1 with default sound drivers. Hardware is, I think, VIA integrated VT8233/A/8235 AC97.
In the game parts of sounds seems to get lost somewhere for example when you should hear
"Dynamite planted" you only hear "Dynam".
I've tried to play with sound buffer sizes and some other settings but nothing works.
On one single custom map sounds seem to work. It may be because it has a continious rain-background sound (the best what i could think of).
Thanks for any help.
