Pacman

Is there a free version of PacMan for Linux or maybe even a flash game whihc is not OS dependant? I wanted to play some PacMan but don't know if there is anything for my Linux box?

Mrs. Pacman will do if need be but I prefer PacMan.

easiest way to find stuff like this.. imho is to go to the "Linux Games Tome" which is here:

http://www.happypenguin.org/

and enter "pacman" in the search box at the top.

there are also some very nice emulators for various game systems available on most distros. MAME will let you play the actual arcade version of the games, snes/znes etc. are Super NES emulators. there are also things like VBA (Game boy advance emulator).

hope this helps

Since it looks like you are using Debian. You just need to get the appropriate packages (.deb's) must Debian based distros have a package manager that is configured with varios Repositories. So the first theing to do is use your package manager to search for the Mame packages.

If you don't see then in the package manager you may need to add/enable other repositories such as the marillat repositories which you can find some info on here

http://debian.video.free.fr/index.html

if you are very new to using/setting up your package manager you may want to talk to someone more familiar with your peticular distro on what are the best repositories to add and of course make sure you add the repositories that are correct for your arcitecture. (ie don't add PPC repositories is you are using a x86 system)

you can also get some info on apt and apt-get here:

http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/apt-howto/

hope this helps

please do be a little cautious in adding repositories as adding the wrong ones can cause version conflicts in your package-management system.

Question

OK - I downloaded a game called "KPacman" and now I have this file called:

/home/carlos/downloads/kpacman-0.3.2.tar.gz.

I then extract the file in it's current location & come up with a new directory called kpacman-0.3.2. I don't understand how to install this game from here and the "README" is not very specific.

I downloaded the game from here.
