OpenGL Errors in Quake 3 - Again? :)

It seems that everyone keeps having trouble with this, aswell as myself. I just reinstalled Slackware for upgrading to the latest version, and got the NVIDIA drivers working properly in X. However, when I try to run Quake 3, I get this error:
Code:

----- R_Init -----

Note that it worked fine the first time I tried it after installing the latest NVIDIA drivers, but now it just keeps crashing with that message every time I try to run it. This is driving me crazy, I've been searching different forums and game sites for almost 24 hours by now.

Thanks in advance!

did the nvidia drivers install successfully?
Did you make the adjustments for your Driver selection in /etc/X11/XF86Config ?

Post your /etc/X11/XF86Config file please.

Main reason I'm asking you to post it is because you have to change

Driver "nv"
or any other possible listed driver

TO

Driver "nvidia"

I have no issues with Quake3 on a very updated system. The newest point release for linux has two versions I think. the regular version and a slightly updated b version. Anyway check this thread out at the bottom of the first page there is a Quake3 install guide. The link is in there for the point release that worked for me.

And just incase here is a good Nvidia driver install How-to.
