i just renewed my subscription for GameDeveloper Magazine ...it said something about 2 free subscriptions ..so i kinda put your email addresses in for referal..
i'm not even sure what 'deal' they're offering ...but ...if it's something you'd be interested in cool ...if not ...my apologies ...if it was anything good, i didn't want it to go to waste...
** please note :: it did not say anything would be 'rewarded' to me for referring some one.. i saw the words 'application' (or something) for a free subscription and immediately thought of this post ....so once again i apologize if you have no interest in receiving such a mag..**
I'm from Spain so I can't recive the magazine. Thanx anyway.
The project development is not going too fast, but not too slow . At this point, you can move the player around the level perfectly (with no head and arms yet...). The loading of the files works pretty good, i hope this project will help anybody to do a nice sidescroller in the future
THanks for thinking about us jhorvath but I don't live in the US and I dont have any money to buy the mag....but thanks anyway.
P.S. I'm going to need some game and program testers in about a month....I'm making games with standard C library, ncurses, sdl, gtk and programs using the latter three.
If anyone would like to be a tester please let me know...........( at this rate I'll be back in the project my February. : YAHOO!!!)

ill test it! its probably the only way i can help at the moment, since im still a mewling newbie at c. btw, ssobeht, how do you get the src to compile? i get alot of warnings about sdl and it doesnt compile, but then again, i use sdl 1.2.5. you got any suggestions?
I am interested, but not to useful, learn programming, but i will help in anyway you can, I have been using linux for like almost 2 years now, very heavy in the past 6 months. I would like to help in any way i can. Send me an email to linuxal@maine.rr.com
I've been programming for about 5 years now and have seen many... many projects started by, and in no offense, noobs. None... 0... ZIP have succeeded into development. In fact, most don't leave discussion. I'd suggest you learn more programming first, much more. If your interested in programming it should still be fun. In fact I suggest you make a little game on your own and add what you learn to it. However, starting a project like this with people you've never met and plan to talk to over forum, isn't going to be so successful(overstatement). What ever you plan to do, I wish the best of luck.
Edit: And what is the point in advertising, making music for, graphics etc. when your not even going to be able to use them for a year or two. Unless you plan on hiring a, and still in no offense, real programmer, you won't get anywhere with all of this material.
Yep, we now, many things where done too soon (as I told Josh ). Bu now everything is going quite well. I am almost the only one writting code but LavaDevil, Rowan and Josh are helping with graphics, scripts etc. The project is not as huge as it might have seemed, but I hope it will finish someday (I think that thay will be around Febrary). Anyway, what I like the most with all this is that I'm learning a lot of things, as you said, and I am getting the knowledge to (in the future) start solid big projects.
Hi!
I'm sorry to say that it hasn't got any webpage and that the last source was released on january. Anyway, if u want it I can send it tu u by email. The problem i found was that i got a bit tired of it because I was the only programmer. I think that if u want to contribute, in any way, maybe designing the webpage or something, i might be encouraged to continue programming. mafiak@telefonica.net
Like many others posters in this thread, I'm a beginner programmer and I want to learn c or c++, and I think such a project is a nice way of learning it. It would be great to join a club of geeks all wanting to learn something like this. But you need a website for something like that.
I'd like to see the source code. How far is the game? Does it work? My e-mail: corienprins [at] yahoo.com.

The last source used SDL, and had working collision detection and movement. Since then, I've been getting a little better, and I'm gonna take a second look at the code.
PS: Hey Ssobeht, it's been awhile! Do you think you could remail me the code? Lost it in a format...
Hi LavaDevil!!!
How nice to see u again. its been a while since i last used AIM. I'll send the source to you all, and maybe we can continue the project. I've been learning C++ with a simple (but fun) Half-Life mod i've dveloped and an unfinished Attax clone project i've started using sdl and wxwindows. Anyway, that game will continue being developed under C.
I think that we could leave realistic phisics to a later stage and start with the arms printing and the sprite rotation things....
well, anyone interested, contact me by e-mail: mafiak@telefonica.net and i'll send u the latest sources.
