Exclamation No sound in native install of Unreal Tournament 99

Hey there. I just installed UT99 with Loki's installer, and it's running great. The only caveat is that there's no sound. I did some googling, and the closest thing I could find was this.

I checked lsmod, and the mentioned "snd_pcm_oss" is in there. I don't know if this stuff
Code:
-->Device Drivers -->Sound -->Advanced Linux Sound Architecture:
<M> OSS Mizex API
<M> OSS PCM (digital audio) API
is Gentoo-specific or if I need to do that. If so, how would I change those options? If not, what should I do?

Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks,
Scott.

I run UT2004 natively on my machine, and and also had a problem with sound not working.
The fix was to add:

Code:
snd-pcm-oss
To /etc/modules

This may work for you.
Regards.
The trooper.

You may just need to install alsa-oss to provide oss compatability in your alsa sound system.

no clue what OS you are running so I can't tell you how to install that..

Debain
aptitude update
aptitude install alsa-oss

Ubuntu
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install alsa-oss

If you have some other Distro, consult the Package installation guide on how to install the alsa-oss wrapper on your distro, and see if that resolves the issue.

I've already got OSS compatibility, UT just wasn't getting it for some reason. The Trooper, your suggestion worked after a reboot. Thanks a lot!
