Nethack

I have two sets of down stairs. I'm not really sure which set to go down. What should I be heading for?

After reading http://www.melankolia.net/nethack/nethack.guide.html It seems one way is the gnomish mine and the other way is the main dungeon. Fabulous prizes await in the gnomish mines, but its not worth the risk till characters have about 50hp

You might want to take a look at slashem. Same basic game, based on hack, but with a graphical interface. Looks better.

Starts you on the first level of the dungeon though; I thought only Larn started you at ground level.
