I got some probs with my xorg.conf file, deleted it & had to recreate. Since that I got Just One Prob: In Enemy Territory, each time I join a game, After being connected, The mouse goes crazy: look at the ground, and keep turning. The mouse movement or click do not react no more..
The solution: qui the game, and relaunch.
And after I join a game, the same happens everytime ...
I don't know from what comes the prob.
Need a Big Light, But I know it's really hard to see what is the prob!
So, to help you all, I will tell what is my comp 1st:
AMD Duron 1200
Kernel 2.6.3-7
Mandrake 10.0 Official-Download (with updates, like KDE 3.3.2, Xorg 6.8.1)
ATI Radeon 9200 SE
I remember also that I installed ATI Drivers, and with the poor results I got, I deleted them. I think that its the source of the problem. It comes from that.
If no one can help me, please at least explain me what the fsck Mandrake are doing with their Mandrake Control Center. How it works, what file it is editing. Because when I edit xorg.conf, X loads ok. And when I try to edit anything related to the Display with their MCC, nothing loads !
I got exactly the reverse with my Dad's computer! He can't edit xorg.conf, even with a space in the commentary... But with MCC, everything is ok.
Maybe it is just a Mandrake probs, but, I want to ask here before.
so here is my xorg.conf, only the Mouse part:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "SendCoreEvents" "true"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection
It is an USB device, with (only) 3 buttons. the scrolling button in the middle is the 3rd one.
/dev/input/mice exist...
I don't know what I have to check..
If you wanna ask more infos, just do it!
ps: the mouse works perfectly everywhere else. And it was working nicely in ET before I tried the ATI driver (I think).
Thanks you in advance!
i have exactly the same problem. the first time i installed enemy territory it worked fine, though very slow. then it started going weird. first it refused my normal resolution 1280x800 (i can't choose it in the list) and mouse went wild. it's as though if the mouse sensitivity was at 100 or something. i have a hp laptop; P4 2,8GHz, 512MB, ATI Mobility Radeon 9200. ati's drivers installed. agpgart is ati's. other opengl games work fine, like foobilliard and openquartz (quake port). i have mandrake 10.1.
apparently the problem with the mouse appers only when connecting to a remote server. i tried making my own server and the game was fine.
well actually i just removed the installation, deleted the files from /usr/local/games/enemy.. and reinstalled the game. worked fine. had some problems setting the resolution but those were easy to solve. funny windows-sort-of problem. uninstall reinstall worked for me.
Just incase an uninstall and re-install of the game does not work find this line in the xorg.conf or XF86Config file.
# This loads the miscellaneous extensions module, and disables
# initialisation of the XFree86-DGA extension within that module.
SubSection "extmod"
Option "omit xfree86-dga" # don't initialise the DGA extension
EndSubSection
All you have to do is make this section look like this.
# This loads the miscellaneous extensions module, and disables
# initialisation of the XFree86-DGA extension within that module.
SubSection "extmod"
Option "xfree86-dga" # don't initialise the DGA extension
EndSubSection
This should only be done at your own risk. If it messes something up I cannot be held responsible for it. But, on the other hand, I have not seen any ill effects from doing this as of yet. I had a spinning issue in Savage and this is what I did to fix it. Basically the spinning issue from what I have seen stems back to an issue in SDL. The only workaround this to my knowledge is is the company that made the games releases a patch to fix it or you take out the omit from that line.
Hope this works for you if a fresh install of the games doesn't.
