Win Progs in Linux...please!
This was so exciting that I cruised all over the net reading.
I also thought they were 'simulating' Windows.
But in fact, they have just made their own copies of the hardware interface!
There is no real time penalty this way: if anything, Windows is slow because of bloating.
So I emerged WINE and a few WINEpacks, expecting to see some hinted at GUI interface for
installing and running windows programs. But I can see no signs of the install, like new
programs/commands on my Gnome menu! Did I miss something?
Also, my internet connection got trashed when I rebooted, but I think this was
just because I was playing a CD for background music, and left it in the drive.
Because I still have a 'boot from CD' option in the BIOS, I think what happens is
the Gentoo startup times out when there is a music CD in the drive.
All was well when I rebooted without the CD.... just in case it happens to you.
So does anyone know what you do next? I was hoping to run Photoshop 7 or Morrowind...
