Linux Games

I haveread a copious amount of articles about Linux and they all state one thing, to reach a greater market Linux needs to have an app, namely a game that is actually exciting, like interesting to play and will waste hours of your life. I couldn't agree more with these articles however there seems to be little information in the Linux community on game creation. I am very interested in it and when I was running Windows I created game mods, running off existing game engines, so I know a bit about the coding and design of games. I guess I have a few questions then, are there any open source, good quality game engines out there for Linux? Preferably ones with alot of documentation and are commercial, eg a Linux Unreal engine? Secondly how different is the process of the creation of code/design in Linux than Windows and thirdly, does anyone know any great sites dedicated to 3d Linux game creation? Any help on this touchy Linux subject would be much appreciated. :)

why don't you start with UT then? Unreal Tournament, 2003, 2004 all run under linux. Start there.
