is there a linux version of jDoom? it says it's a windows and linux project on sourceforge, but i can't find anything about downloading the linux version. If not, is there a linux version w/ support for md2 models?

I could not find either. The source is available, but won't compile even asking Elvis some help... Try Doom Legacy. It's not as good as jDoom, but it's easy to install and is still very, very beautiful to look at

Thanks for the suggestions, I actually have been using Legacy and I love it =) I was interested in a source port w/ md2 models but oh well, it's not like it affects gameplay and legacy still looks great

Thumbs up doomsday

doomsday is being ported to linux in fact the latest cvs i sucked down i managed to compile and it appears to run ok .
It supports md2 (3d) models ( models not as complete in hexen and heretic )

so check out the cvs an have a look

for links to models , sounds , textures etc check out the doomsday homepage
www.doomsdayhq.com

for cvs check out
http://sourceforge.net/projects/deng

It looks pretty good, even did a quick lan connect sucessfully.

oh my $*&%*% ???

Download the linux source not the windows binary , the homepage may not have the link yet.
I downloaded the just released version from the sourceforge link, it compiled ok here ( running debian unstable ).
nice with 3d models addon packs and music packs though they are big downloads ( links for these are on the doomsdayhq.com site )

cheers
