issue with frozen bubble -- "font has not been loaded"

So I decided to finally install frozen bubble to see what the commotion was about and after getting all the SDL stuff installed and out of the way, I installed frozen bubble from source. Using make, then checkinstall.

Now it seems like frozen bubble is "correctly" installed, however I'm getting a font error. (NOT the common NewFont.al error.) The frozen bubble window pops up after I enter the command, but it immediately disappears with this error message:

Code:
brian@echelon:~$ frozen-bubble
        [[ Frozen-Bubble-1.0.0 ]]

[SDL Init] The font has not been loaded!
brian@echelon:~$
For the record, I'm running Slackware 10.2 with KDE 3.5.3 on kernel 2.6.16.19. I installed all SDL packages specified by the frozen bubble documentation. I compiled them all and installed them using checkinstall. I also made sure I installed them in the order stated.

Any help would be much appreciated.

B

Check to see if you have package libsdl-ttf2.0-0 installed. This allows you to use true type fonts in sdl apps. It may have not been installed if you compiled from source.

Well i didn't have the package installed, so I tracked down sdl-ttf2.0_2.0.8.orig.tar.gz, compiled and installed it. Using the showfont program that came with sdl-ttf, I was able to display a font, so I'm gonna say that rendering fonts to the screen isn't the problem.

I still get the exact same error message when I try to run frozen-bubble.

After installing sdl-ttf I shouldn't have to restart X or anything, right?

I don't know if you would have to reboot or not but it wouldn't hurt to try. You would laso need to know if Frozen Bubble knows the package is now installed. I am a Debian user and my knowledge of compiling programs from source is limited, Apt resolves any dependancies. I can tell you that if I try to install Frozen Bubble, Apt resolves the following dependancies:fb-music-high frozen-bubble-data libdirectfb-0.9-24 libsdl-console
libsdl-gfx1.2-4 libsdl-image1.2 libsdl-mixer1.2 libsdl-net1.2 libsdl-perl
libsdl-ttf2.0-0 libsdl1.2debian libsdl1.2debian-alsa libsmpeg0 libsvga1
libsysfs2 svgalibg1 And Suggests ttf-freefont. I hope this helps.

I rebooted and as expected, nothing changed. Thanks for your help, but I'm not really sure where to go from here...
