install HL2 issues

I am using cedega which is installed. I installed steam with no issues. I am going to install the setup.exe and I get this error message:

Error 1311 Source file not found
G:\mnt\dvdrecorder\hl22.cab. Verify that the file exists and that
you can access it.

I am thinking that I need to put second cd in but when I try to umount is giving me device is busy. I am not in that directory so that is not the issue. I was not in that directory when I mounted it either. What am I doing wring here???

ok so I cxled the install and mounted the second cd and the hl22.cab is on the second cd. So my questions is should I just put all cds in one big folder? Because when I get this error message all I can do is ok and cxl. Not sure.

Sorry I never even tried to install HL2 in cedega. It was a nightmare even getting it on windows. For a start it fried a win98se install, then I put it on XP which took 5 hours altogether... I won't be buying another valve game, even though HL2 was very cool...

I had similar disk change issues with jedi academy. I think I copied to one folder in that case... I found a big readme on the supject at the time

Personaly I will buy Valve games...its Steam that sucks, not Valve.

I have my HL2 and CS:S running on FC3 2.6.10...works fine.

However you may run into the Error 21 issue if you haven't followed the instructions yet on www.transgaming.org/forums

It took me a while to get it working...but I found Point2Play was a lot easier to get Steam going than Cedega was. Maybe you should give that a shot..

ah not dissapoint you but HL2 only runs in DX8 mode for Cedega, it looks really crappy. I get around 50-70 fps in Cedega. CS:S I get about the same. In Windows I get 120-185 fps.

I know this is way old, but I just had the same problem. all you have to do is click the "mount" icon and then retry on the error window and it will install!!! But know I don't have a hl2.exe anywhere, buggers!
