ID softwares game pissing me off. RTCW. Signal 11 error. cant start single player.
Whenver I try to play single player in RTCW, I get an error, saying signal eleven or someting, and it just exists. Whatever user I use, or root, or when I reinstalled the game, and I tried to patch it, it always gives me this damn error. Sry about being :mad: but when I buy a game, I expect to play it a day or so after I buy it, not 5 months. (im so sory I bought the PLATINUM PACK EDITION, and no its not what u ppl think)

how did you install the game?? generally if you install the binary then copy the pack files to the main directory and try and run the game.. you will errors simliar to above....
usually reinstalling the binary with the pack files where they should be will resolve the problem. I would suggest that first. |
Wait I didnt fully get what ur trying to say? I copied over the .pak files to main, thats what the install said. So ur saying.... reinstall the binary, with, the .pak files where they should be? But how would that be if binary is not THER yet? :confused: :scratch: Ok well, I can play online, but now im getting the feeling mandrake 10 is probably the problem not the game, but PLEASE reply back with better information, I would love to play this game again, not on windows this time. THANX!

Well, I reinstalled the binary again, with the .pak files in place where they were before I installed this game, and no prevail. :'-(

This is not the real answer for your problem, but... RTCW works flawlessly with Cedega/WineX, just in the case you've it installed :)

I've tried that, but to no prevail. It brings up the CONSOLE thing, but it just crashes. What version of winex do u have to use to get it to work?

It worked fine with WineX 3.2.2(if I remember right) and 4.0-1 (Cedega), which I'm using now...
Since RTCW worked with 2 totally different beasts (AMD/TNT and P4/Gforce4) for me, I'd check your video card drivers (latest Nvidia are used to be unstable) and if XF86Config is properly configured (it's not only to replace nv to nvidia, sometimes you need to comment out stuff). I've heard (you're better then anyone else to confirm) that Mandy 10.0 comes with Nvidia drivers. I'd get rid of them and install one from Nvidia's site (try the latest one, you may be lucky, who knows... otherwise, get a not so new one :)) and try again :) Good luck! |
I tried both 53.36 and the new 60 somethin drivers, get the same error, im putting in my Radeon 9600, HOPEFULLY itll come out with different results. eheh.

This has nothing to do with your graphics card
This is not a problem with your graphics card its your sound card the easiest way to determine whether you have a grahics or sound card problem is to read your output.
no /dev/dsp device kinda gives it away. also test the game with the nosound init option and your likely to see that the game will run just fine with out sound. I know this because I have exactly the same problem and its really annoying. I can't play RTCW on mdk 10.2 with an onboard via sound device. Needs to get a better sound card to get this to work. :) |
