icculus.org Duke Nukem 3d: compiles fine but won't run

hey all, i tried out the /icculus.org duke3d linux how to, everything was fine and compiled ok, including sdl and sdl_mixer i've been following this how to
http://icculus.org/duke3d/ and everything seemed ok until I ran the duke3d binary

Code:

root@(gizywig) ./duke3d
                  Duke Nukem 3D v1.4 - Atomic Edition
                  Copyright (c) 1996 3D Realms Entertainment

STUB: CONTROL_ClearAssignments (CONTROL_ClearAssignments, control.c:218)
  * Writing defaults to current directory.
OK; no error.

I have no idea what's wrong with it, I assumed "ok: no error" meant it was all ok, but I didn't start up;/ I'm running the latest SDL and SDL_Mixer and Duke Nukem 3d, which I Installed on a windows box and copied to my linux box as instructed.

I'm abit baffled to tell you the truth.

Thanks in advance for any help, and for reviewing my post.

Make sure you've got a Duke3D ATOMIC EDITION cd-rom. You might be able to get away with the shareware version or one of the other retail versions, but I haven't tried.
do you have this CD???
