HLDS Problems

I have a had a Windows HLDS running for sometime now and it has worked fine except for the occasional crash and client drop. I dedcided to switch to Suse Linux and its all been downhill from there. It took me a while but i think its all installed correctly and up to date... When i run the czero server the console looks like this...

dhcppc3:~ # cd /usr/Steam/hlds_l/czero/
dhcppc3:/usr/Steam/hlds_l/czero # ./hlds_run -game czero +ip 72.23.91.51
Auto detecting CPU
Using Pentium II Optimised binary.
Auto-restarting the server on crash

Console initialized.
scandir failed:/usr/Steam/hlds_l/czero/./platform/SAVE
Protocol version 47
Exe version 1.0.0.2/Stdio (czero)
Exe build: 12:05:29 Sep 30 2005 (3213)
STEAM Auth Server
couldn't exec valve.rc
Server IP address
couldn't exec banned.cfg
Adding master server 207.173.177.11:27010
Adding master server 69.28.151.178:27010
Adding master at 72.23.91.51:27010
^^ the adding master server thing i did manually in the config file because it wasnt doing it on its own..
Then when i look for the server in my LAN servers it doesnt show up in steam. The windows server appeared instantly in the LAN server when i ran it for the 1st time and took about 15 hours to authenticate and show up on the Internet list. What is wrong here?? Is it not getting authentication???WHYYYY???

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!

So is it a LAN server?? or your wanting to host a public server?

Theres a file you need to edit for a LAN server... but I need to know which one your doing.

Well i really want it to be an internet server... but i thought i could at least have the server listed as both LAN and Internet...(Like my old windows server)...So i guess if u could help me get both aspects working that would be great...but i realllly need it to at least be working as an internet server.

PS i think i found how to make it a LAN Server..it says in the config u need to add the line "sv_lan 1" as well as "sv_maxupdaterate 100" and theres another line you can add to make it a LAN only server but i want it to show up on my local network list in steam as well as internet..So if i add this stuff it should at least get the LAN Part working rite? if yes, will it affect the abilty to be an internet server as well?
I also just read somewhere that HLDS is set up to automatically be an Internet and LAN server and when executed should automatically be listed in the Internet/LAN server list....but even when i dont tell it to bind to my external IP, its not there......
Thanks in advance!!

hey man... I have the very same problem as you.

I've been looking around on the internet for someone who was in the same situation as me.

I have tried to do this on a bunch of different operating systems, but it just wont work.

actually, thats not entirely true, at first it does work, for like a week. And then it just starts not working(the same symptoms you are explaining)

So tell me if this is what happens to you... everything loads except when it gets to "adding master servers" right?

After you type "exit" does it quickly add the master servers before it quits entirely? It does that for me...this is what it looks like.

Auto detecting CPU
Using Pentium II Optimised binary.
Auto-restarting the server on crash
Updating server using Steam.
Checking bootstrapper version ...
Updating Installation
Checking/Installing 'Counter-Strike Base Content' version 16

Checking/Installing 'Linux Server Engine' version 28

Checking/Installing 'Half-Life Base Content' version 8

HLDS installation up to date

Console initialized.
scandir failed:/home/nightvision/hlds/./valve/SAVE
scandir failed:/home/nightvision/hlds/./platform/SAVE
Protocol version 47
Exe version 1.1.2.5/Stdio (cstrike)
Exe build: 13:45:30 Nov 24 2005 (3318)
STEAM Auth Server
couldn't exec language.cfg
Server IP address 127.0.0.1:27015

Metamod version 1.17.2 Copyright (c) 2001-2004 Will Day <willday@metamod.org>
Metamod comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY; for details type `meta gpl'.
This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it
under certain conditions; type `meta gpl' for details.

cstrike
couldn't exec listip.cfg
couldn't exec banned.cfg
Executing Admin Mod config file

THEN I TYPE 'exit"
and it shows this

dding master server 207.173.177.11:27010
Adding master server 68.142.72.250:27010
Tue Dec 6 17:54:25 MST 2005: Server restart in 10 seconds

Is this what happens with you? And tell me how to fix this problem if you have found a solution.
