i know this is a laaame game, and a even lamer question, but......
I love freeciv, i just wanna run a server off my linux box, mandrake 10.1, i got the rpm all nice and loaded.
the server runs,
i can log on locally (from the same box)
But, i get nothing over the lan
havent tried a internet game yet, i just want it visable on the lan.
all my firewall settings are off
im even running the host box in a dmz, with the port unblocked for the game on the host.
you must remember that this isn't instant service, it all depends on whether someone sees your question or not. Remember also the spread of timezones- the person who can answer your question might be asleep right now.
did you ever get it working? if not, it may be due to port restrictions in your firewall (iptables, etc) i turn off all firewalls, and use the linux firewall built in to my router to manage traffic, i must forward certian ports to my other linux box, esp 80 for apache, 22-25 for ftp, ssh etc and others for my ts server.
