GunBound on WineX, anyone successful?

I dunno how many people have played/tried GunBound but it's a really fun online game, very similar to Worms if you've played it. Unforunately there is only a WIndows version, but I hoped that WineX would run it no problem. When I try and run it, I get this error message:

Code:

Well that's a letdown. I just checked GunBound's forums and people are pleading for Linux and Mac versions. Everyone has said they can't get it to run on WineX OR Wine OR Crossover Office. Tis a shame :-\

If it is an archive, you have to extract it first before you run the setup...

I get the same error. So at least we know we're not stupid.
I've got a windoze box across the room, but it would be nice to play on my regular desktop.

why dont you extract the files on your windoze box first then transfer them to your linux box? if still no go, you might want to try the CVS version of WineX

I thought this WAS the executable.:

~/TransGaming_Drive/Program Files/softnyx/GunBound$ ll
total 103580
-rwxr-xr-x 1 cjones cjones 237568 Oct 18 2002 GbSet.exe
-rwxr-xr-x 1 cjones cjones 473913 Jan 27 2003 GunBound.exe
-rw-r--r-- 1 cjones cjones 1506105 Dec 2 10:26 GunBound.gme
-rw-r--r-- 1 cjones cjones 51 Feb 5 16:38 GunBound.url
...
...

I tried to compile the CVS version a few weeks ago to no avail. (compile was broken).
Might try again soon. I'd like to know if someone has this actually working before I pour a crapload of work into it.

I've tried running it from the already in place Windows install. Doesn't work. The problem isn't installing, it's running. I haven't tried the latest WineX CVS, but WineX 3.2-1 sure doesn't run it. I've pretty much given up, too many retards play the game anyway, makes it not fun (kinda like O2Jam) so I've pretty much dropped it, good luck to anyone that tries to get it working though.

Angry

I, for one, have a triple boot box (gentoo, windows xp, and beos) and I'd like to run Gunbound on linux for development purposes (I'm working on reverse engineering it for a further project).

I have the cvs version of winex and GunBound.exe won't run. I get the same error except I don't have the wine debugger installed, so the second part of the error is missing.

It runs fine when booted to windows, but the installation on windows under winex doesn't run at all, and the fresh installation I installed under winex gives the error message you've already seen. GunBound.exe is the executable, not the installer.
