games wont run on 64bit

hi i have just built a new computer and athlon 64 and hav installed the 64 bit version of suse 9.2 pro on it every thing went fine got the nvidia drivers running and a few other things and then i tried to load my games on the main 2 i play most are quake 3 and sim city 3 but non will install when i try to install anything i get the following message

This installation doesn't support glibc-2.1 on Linux / x86_64
so i went into yast to see if there was a glibc 32 bit version and there was and it was already installed! to me it appears if suse is getting confused and tries using the 64 bit version on glibc.

can any one please tell me how i can make it run using the 32 bit glibc please i havent tried installing doom 3 yet so that might work.

thanks in advance for any help

what drivers are you using.... ?
on the nvidia site, make sure you use the driver with the package name ending is pkg2. unlike pkg1, pkg2 has 32bti compatability librares for your 32bit games.

when compiling the driver, make sure you answer yes to 32bit compatability

i have just reinstalled the nvidia driver to make sure and i said yes to 32 bit support and i still get the same problem. i think i know what the problem is i just dont know howto fix it.

its looking for the 32bit version of glibc but only finds the 64bit version when the 32 bit version is on there

haha... oops... my bad !

yeah.... some games are not 64_bit aware... they were made before AMD64 was so popular, so the way they work, is they run a "uname -a" and look for a list of supported porcessors (i386 i486 i586 i686 x86) and if they dont find one they like, they quit, even though AMD64 is backwards compatable with x86.

you need to fool the installer into thinking you are using a 32bit OS.

make sure that 1... your distro's 32bit compatability libraries are installed, then re-run the game uinsstaller with the linux32 command...

Code:
linux32 /path/to/executable
reand "man linux32" for more info...

i had to use this to install UT2003 from the game disks.

Thanks.

for the very dead and not free Suse 9
you do not

you buy the license for SUSE Linux Desktop 11 sp3
and install that
or
install the free OpenSUSE 13.1
--- first ---
then you worry about the multi libs
