xbox or playstation
what side of the "south park" war was the kid on

but if they were like my nephew ,a 3d chess program that uses the GNU chess engine and the expert book .

( grand masters have been known to LOSE to the GNU engine )

If you ( or the kid ) can support it there is a gaming respin of fedora
http://spins.fedoraproject.org/games/

Scorched 3D - is SLOW but fun for some

I started with Ubuntu for gaming it was nice but if you want full perfomance for your games you need to change your desktop enviroment because Unity i making some bugs on games when you play fullscreen. Now i am with Fedora and my games are working better than on Ubuntu, but its little harder for beginners.
